Woodshop Wood Room
The wood room is a storage room available to our supervisors.
We store projects, specialized equipment, special maintenance tools in addition to wood that is donated to the shop and supervisors personal wood and projects under construction.
Three large cabinets contain:
1. projects saved for sale at the bazaar
2, small pieces of fine hardwoods such as oak, maple, walnut, teak
3. specialized tools not available to the residents.
The wood stored in the wood room is arranged by type and size. Hardwoods, softwoods, redwood, fiberboard, construction lumber, plywood, all sorted by type, size, width, length, and/or thickness. Supervisors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the location of items and be aware of the organization. Supervisors who need to keep wood in the wood room (for their own use) must clearly mark their name and date on the items to prevent someone else from taking their work/wood.
Supervisors are urged to select the smallest size available from the appropriate rack or cubby. Other items in the wood room includes spindles, furniture legs, wood brackets, some plastics, some metal shelf standards, picture frame molding, canvas stretchers, household molding, and other assorted items. Dowels are located in the back left corner of the room.
Residents using the shop are required to purchase their own wood for the projects that they make, but may ask a supervisor to check the wood room for small items needed to complete a project or repair. If a resident uses wood supplied by the supervisor they should be reminded to leave a donation in the donation box on the front door.
Notice: Post renovation will change the location of many of the items. We are scheduled to place a vertical panel saw just inside the outside doorway for breaking down large panels.
