Welcome to the Rossmoor Woodshop

The Golden Rain Foundation provides a generous amount of shop space for a number of hobbies and crafts within the Gateway Complex of the Rossmoor community. The  Rossmoor Woodshop  occupies several rooms of that space.   The administration and operation of the facilities are carried out by the Rossmoor Woodshop Supervisors Association.   People visiting the shop for the first time have many questions about what we are all about.   This website attempts to answer many of those questions.

Who We Serve

Our association is focused on service to the Rossmoor community at large.   Specifically, any Rossmoor resident is entitled to make use of the facilities of the Rossmoor Woodshop.   How residents use our facilities (in practice) varies by the needs of each resident and is explained on the Resident Work Order and the Residents Projects pages.

Our Physical Resources

Most of the work performed and the stationary tools needed for that work are located in our two Work Rooms.
Many power tools and hand tools are located in our Tool Room.
A limited supply of wood and other supplies are stored in our Wood Room.

Our Human Resources  (our supervisors, the Rossmoor Woodshop Supervisors Association)

This association is a group of volunteers, each with considerable experience in woodworking and other trades as well.  More about our Supervisors.

Our Shop Schedule and Shop Hours

How we organize ourselves and schedule the times we keep the shop open for residents is explained on our Calendar page.

Our Website

This website has been in existence in a VERY abbreviated form since 2008.   In late September 2022 we decided to significantly update it.   Several of the supervisors provided content in their individual areas of interest / expertise.   Development was 'capped' in late November 2022.   Development of a newer version may begin again at some point in the future.
